Emulation of Butler's Writing

Octavia E. Butler’s style of writing has impeccable tone, word choice/imagery, and figurative language.  Butler throughout the two pieces of novels that I read included many significant tone shifts that kept readers engaged. The ability of Butler to ensure that her audience could never predict what would happen in the next chapter or even page. This made me want to never put the book down. Butler addressing many controversial topics enticed her books to have a deeper meaning, than just telling a story. Overall, Butler’s style of writing makes her audience grow an understanding that was comprehensible before.

The recurring events that have led us back to this time has made just the biggest impact on me and my ancestors. I want to change. I want to help. I want to make a difference, but I shall not for the sake of Alice and I. Without her, I won’t have a life. A life devoted to ensuring that I can make a difference. I want the people to understand. I want people to know the injustices my ancestors endured. I want to make light of this situation. I must for Kevin. He is my rock. Life, and best friends. I do not want violence, but rather, for people like the Weylin’s to comprehend the inconsiderate behavior and we all bleed the same color. Violence is never the solution. Violence is not necessary then or now. Words, statements, and actions are the way to resolve this. Undermining the people who caused the situations will never be the answer. We shall fight with our hearts and souls, not our fists. 

This implicates Butler's writing and enhances the aspects of showing her true demeanor towards the injustices. It illustrates her true feelings of violence never being the answer, ever. Butler uses her loved ones, such as Alice and Kevin to directly amplify her thought process. The way everything goes is the way she includes the details that she uses.
